Linas (director Linas Phillips, WALKING TO WERNER, IFFBoston 2006), recently rejected by his married lover and expelled from his friend’s couch after overstaying his welcome, is uncertain how much more loneliness and discomfort he can tolerate. By chance, he discovers a deserted 1976 Volkswagen shorty van on a llama farm on the outskirts of Seattle. With little to keep him local, he gets into the vehicle and embarks on a journey eastward to Boston to see his family.
This expressive road movie defies expectations of the genre. Visually captivating and based on collaborations with his co-stars and friends—including Davie-Blue, Paul Lazar, Jim Fletcher, and Sean Porter—Phillips has forged a semiautobiographical tale, presenting it in a modest work that stealthily immerses the viewer in a undeniable sense of humanity.
