Tender As Hellfire
Jason Stone 2008
Categories: Short Film
Run time: 17 min. | USA
Set amidst the sweeping, rural landscape of a small American town, TENDER AS HELLFIRE tells the story of two brothers trying to move forward four years after the death of their father. They find themselves sharing their small trailer with their mother’s new boyfriend, French, a man suddenly faced with responsibility that he doesn’t want and for which he isn’t ready.

On the day French is to leave town, he is forced to adjust his plans when his truck breaks down and he is left to look after the boys while their mother finishes her shift at a casino. A series of bad choices leads him and the two young boys to an illegal dogfight, where French must decide if he is ready to accept the benefits and burdens of fatherhood.

This short is playing in with the feature film The Vicious Kind. To buy tickets click here.
