Director Jason Kupfer in attendance.

What would happen if one of man’s dearest comforts, teddy bears––our talismans of protection and safety––turned on us? Kupfer’s THE SLEUTH INCIDENT surmises such, depicting the graphic nocturnal attacks of our plush companions on their daytime captors. Playing with traditional notions of childhood, security, and violence, the film manages to be impactful and powerful with its main players: resolutely mute and motionless, poly-cotton-blended harbingers of vengeance.

- Daniel Barnum-Swett
